FAQ
1. When will the conference take place and where?
The 1st ISIC will take place from 8 to 10 of April 2009 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
2. What are the main topics?
The research program (scientific contest) covers ALL medical fields. This means you can send in your abstract coming from all fields of medical research.
3. What does active and passive participants mean?
Active Participation
Your main task is the presentation of your scientific work either oral or with a poster in front of the audience. By presenting your scientific work in sessions with other active participants, you can qualify yourself as the winner of your session. Furthermore you can of course participate in any other session or workshop and in any special or social event. Any active applicant who is not selected by our scientific jury is welcome to become a passive participant.
Passive Participation
Passive participants will have the opportunity to meet professors and to take part in our program (for example in workshops, in social program etc.), but will not be allowed to hold a presentation during the sessions. You can visit any session, workshop or lecture you want to. However, you are not able to take part in the scientific contest or to win a prize.
4. Can I get an invitation letter?
We will provide presenting participants with an official invitation letter for the congress.
5. What will be the program of ISIC 2009?
The preliminary program of ISIC 2009 can be viewed on programme page of this website. Changes in this program may occur.
6. What will the social programme consist of?
The ISIC offers an extensive social programme (dinners, parties, guided tours…)
which will help you to discover a little part of Ukraine, our people and their traditional hospitality.
7. Can I apply for more than one presentation?
No. You may submit more than one abstract, but you are only allowed to present one of them.
8. Does my abstract need to be in a special format?
We do not require any special format. You may simply "copy and paste" your abstract into the appropriate field. The abstract requirements are given in the application form.
9. Can I hand in an abstract about a project which is not yet finished?
Yes, you can. Please note that the participants will be chosen from the submitted applications by a scientific jury. Thus your project should thoroughly be described to convince the jury of your work's quality and the significance of the results to be expected.
10. Can two or more persons apply as authors for one abstract?
No. Only one person is allowed to present the work and to be the exclusive author. Other persons, working on the same project, may apply with their own abstract or can be mentioned as co-authors and they are welcome to participate in ISIC as passive participants.
11. When is the deadline for sending in an abstract?
The abstracts have to be sent in by 1st of March 2012, 23.59h MET (DEADLINE)
12. What are the guidelines for sending in an abstract?
Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed. They must not contain more than 3000 characters and should include the author's (and co-authors) name, mentor and the institution. Abstracts should not contain tables and/or pictures. Abstracts should contain a heading, aim, method, results and conclusion. Detailed requirements you can find on Apply now page of our website.
13. Where will I be accommodated during the conference?
Both active and passive participants will be accommodated in the student hostel-hotel during the congress. You can find some other hotels in Kharkiv on this website but booking will be your responsibility.
14. Do I have to pay my accommodation in Kharkiv?
Yes, you will have to cover your accommodation expenses by yourself.
